It’s Marathon Monday For All Of Us

We are far away from Boston here in SF but today we did our best to pick up as many of those magical Marathon Monday vibes as possible.

We did a 5k, 10k, half, and full marathon of runs around the Fort Mason conference center. If it doesn’t make sense, don’t worry, you should have just been there. Mostly we rolled around on the wet pavement and tried (successfully) to avoid a skunk that wanted to workout with us. read more

Going All Out

This has been a big week. Monday, NP Seattle’s co-leader, Brian Fisher, led the bounce and IG’d our workout so hard. Laura loved it. Wednesday we gave the PA to Coach Buck. A worthy recipient. And I want to focus on one of the many reasons why Nick deserved it: he goes hard.

This isn’t meant to be another post about how great Sir Nicholas is. That was for Wednesday so pretty much over him now 🙂 read more

PLANK CHALLENGE W/ OUR SISTER CITY!

First day of the plank challenge is tomorrow. Teams are up and it’s not too late to join. Sign up and check out teams here.

Some important information about this challenge. Not only will we be doing a physical challenge, but we’ll be making this a little weirder. You should have known. As you and your team are completing your challenge, we want to see the craziest places you’re planking. Post photos of you and your team planking with the hashtag #PlankBank and the best photos will win TNF swag. Potentially a shirt from our sister city. Potentiallyyyy. read more

March Madness

Every March the best teams in college basketball come together to play in a little tournament. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Maybe you haven’t and you don’t understand why people keep talking about brackets this month. Perhaps the only brackets you know look like this:

Office pool? What is that? I haven’t had a dip in years and I definitely don’t want to see my coworkers in their swim trunks. read more

St. Paddy’s Day

This morning we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. Now normally, just wearing green is enough. Even in other tribes in this crazy movement. But we have our own Saint Patrick. He goes by Paddy for short.

Teasing Paddy is really the best. Laura can vouch for me. She’s the queen of it. In fact, when I started out this morning, I was looking for a little inspiration for the bounce from the Mothership’s own, Chris Payne, and this was what I got: read more

Who Run The World?

Today is International Women’s Day. A big day for women around the world. And especially the women of NPSF.

We have so many strong females in NP (all across the 33 tribes) including many leaders. I thought about writing something funny about how equality has never been greater than forcing men and women to give each other their phone numbers for a workout (like this morning), but I couldn’t figure out how to be funny. read more

La La Land and Alley Racing

Last night at the Oscars, La La Land almost won Best Picture. Emphasis on almost. They literally had their hands on the award. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Here at NPSF, almost winning is still reason enough for us to make our Oscars workout focused on you.

Today, amidst running up a nice hill, when random jazz from La La Land soundtrack came on the jabra speaker, pairs of world-class dancers matched up for a little waltz. It was as awkward and beautiful as you’d expect it to be. read more

You Guys Are Alright

So I was going to write this post about how PRs are what you make of them and not always on the time clock and all that jazz. I had this great conversation with Anna, who is new and everyone should get to know–she’s awesome, about how she was able to run more today than she has done in the past on the PR course. So cool. read more

Notes From A Wet Friday

I’m going to Joshua Tree this weekend to experience what rain is like in the desert so I’m going to keep this short and sweet. Wisconsin notes here we go:

  • Ryan Scura dusted everyone today. Dude is wicked fast.
  • Sophie and Kim were new today but weren’t there for the bounce. Hug them on their next time with us.
  • Paddy literally sat on his butt today…taking photos.
  • Everyone looks more badass running in the rain
  • Weston kept his shirt on for the entirety of the workout. So odd.
  • Lauren reported on her conversation with the firefighters that we first woke them up and should let them know next time we run their hill so they can join us. Definitely happening.
  • Dave Hoch made sure NPSF is remembered on this hill forever by editing the wikipedia page for Stanyan Street (see the photo album).

Only announcement: Zumba workout has been moved to a date to be named later. We want to blow this workout up and have lots of people come dance with Louise and Weston and with the rain and a holiday we weren’t sure that would happen. Stay tuned! read more

Where Was Sunish?

Today we ran stairs at Coit Tower. One of the greatest phallic monuments out there. And the guy who could have given us our history was missing in action, one Sunish Oturkar. Here’s a brief list of places Sunish could have been:

  • Pooping
  • India
  • Pooping in India (toilet or hole in the ground? Couldn’t say.)
  • Time traveling back to the building of Coit Tower
  • On his couch eating popcorn
  • On his couch eating popcorn time traveling back to the building of Coit Tower
  • At the DMV

These are the only acceptable excuses we would have accepted anyways. Instead, we were left with spur of the moment history. Obviously Pete Kruse was there to give his take (totally made up…I think) and so was RAD (very real–especially for only having 30 seconds. Bravo.) read more
