Say something nice

As I watched the tribe finish the last sprint, I asked myself “How did I get here?”

How did I get so lucky to know these awesome people?

And it was because of Esther, Ridley’s wife. A chance encounter at the park that led to a conversation of free fitness led by her then boyfriend. She doesn’t join us much anymore because of cute Madison and another baby on the way or Ridley chain her up at home I don’t know really… but I will forever be grateful for that conversation, that push that led me here today writing a blog about which other lucky person met some other lucky person who shared with them about November Project and encouraged them to just show up. read more

Crush Your Morning

“5.15am?”
“It’s too early!”
“I’m not a morning person lar”

Having talked to many people about November Project, we are pretty used to hearing this. I mean, I get it… it IS godforsaken early.
But what the heck is a morning person anyway?

I’m not a morning person unless 10am is morning. Then yes, that is an appropriate time to call it morning. read more

A feeling that I belong and can be someone

And I, I had a feeling that I belonged
And I, I had a feeling that I could be someone
Had a feeling that I could be someone

That’s how I feel like being in November Project. As each day passes being in this tribe, I get to witness astounding changes and challenges the tribe members take up.

This is a group I love to be friends with. Positive people, never a bad word to say to each other, happy people who enjoy giving and receiving hugs, high fives and a good old handshake, always up for burpees (tested on a nostalgic Thursday) and playing in the rain. People I can invite to marathons and explore trails. People I can sit down and have breakfast with. People I belong with. read more

Asia Tribe Challenge and #NPGiveBack

Last week, the November Project Malaysia tribe issued out a recruitment challenge to the Hong Kong tribe for the month of September. A little Asia throwdown, we call it! Which tribe will have the bigger number every Wednesday? The losing tribe will have to do 5 burpees for each difference in number. Names were called, some silly trash talking were said and a Photoshop war broke out among the co-leaders of both tribes. read more

Yvonne

I have known Yvonne since high school. Though we were in different class, we saw each other often in the school corridors and our circle of friends to add each other on Facebook many years later after graduation. When she turned up at our November Project pledge workout early this year, I was very surprised and excited to see her! Since knowing her better at our NP workouts, I was touched by how long she had to convince herself to show up at her first workout with us and the reason why. read more

Our first #traverbal and this strange feeling…

That feeling is pride. And we’ve been having a lot of it lately.

Being a fairly new tribe, a #traverbal is an exciting word to us. So when our homegrown girl Davina and expat Natalie who only got to know of NP because of Miri went to London this week, we were beyond ecstatic and yes, there’s the word… proud. Proud like papa and mama bears sending their NP children to the world. Proud because we already know they would be welcomed like family even before the bounce. Proud our seahorse tag made it out to a tribe in another city. read more

Aftermath of our first PR day

So this week, the Malaysian tribe had our first PR day and boy, was it a success! We hit our elusive 60 and welcomed the most newbies in one single workout. Great job to the tribe for hyping up PR day and brought their friends to experience the joy of November Project.

Because of the nature of our workout location (it is a hill with slopes down each end), we had to come up with a simple way to measure PR and make sure it is still a killer workout. Hence, the co-leaders decided to make it a suicide runs and count PR by the furthest lamp post the tribe can reach before the clock hits 35 minutes. read more
