A Good Day (IND)

Last race day I recreated the song “Regulators”.  This month…I won’t be doing that.  Instead it will be a series of notes.

Wisconsin Notes:

Today was Race Day.

It was also “Tag Your Shirt” Day

For some of us, it was also “Tag Your Entire Body in an effort to figure out where you are getting your tattoo” Day.  Later turning in to…”researching what Krylon paint can do to your skin when left on for an extended period of time” Day.

The main thing is that it is also Wednesday, and that’s pretty rad.

Music Notes:

A week ago Dise McDiserson sent a suggestion for a playlist.

It was all EDM.

I hate EDM, so I didn’t play it.  But…I compromised (because that’s the type of guy I am) and suggested Girl Talk.  He agreed this was a sufficient substitute and so we came to an agreement.  This is what adults do. Agree, compromise, and come up with a reasonable solution. Are there any undertones to this?  Not sure…so I’ll move on.

My point here is that if YOU have a music suggestion beyond my usual 90’s rap, 2000’s pop, or occasional Disney song, please feel free to shoot them my way. I welcome all suggestions that don’t suck.

Love Notes:

I mentioned this at the end of the 6:15am workout, but it’s worth putting in writing.  Or whatever this blog is.  When we were at Summit we were asked to talk about the Race Day in each city.  Every single leader had a similar response when I described ours and that was – ”wow!! That’s BRUTAL!!” (along with some other choice words).  So, with that being said….everybody who participated and continues to participate in Race Day, knowing how tough it is, should feel damn proud because that shit is NOT easy.  And, while it may not get easier, it’s our little “rite of passage”.

Notes in a bottle:

Friday we will meet at the Fountain just north of the Indiana War Memorial.  6am. Earn your holiday weekend!

Speaking of, I know next Wednesday is the day after a holiday and I know it may be a little “tougher” to get out of bed on July 5th  based on how some of these Fourth of July bbqs go.  But, if you begin to question whether to sleep in or not, just remember that America did not gain its independence from the British by hitting snooze. NO!! They showed up, and they kicked ass!!  And they did so wearing American Flag board shorts, a tank top, and a stars and stripes bandana!!  So you should do the same next week.  See you then.

A grown adult who showered with a scratch pad today,

Shaw
