In a recent blog I talking about how there is a choice in positioning yourself into situations and around people to help aim towards the goal of your own happiness. For me NP was just a starting point and I don’t think I was alone in NP acting like a gateway to so many things. It’s easy to look back now and say that it worked out well but these workouts/social interactions allowed me to take opportunities that maybe I wouldn’t have in the past. I joined social activities outside of NP: rec teams, races, TV watching with a group, traveling, going to the gym etc etc. I was lucky enough to develop friendships. All of these things have certainly made me happy over the years and it all started by making a choice to surround myself with the people I wanted to be surrounded by. Don’t get me wrong its not as simple as that. Everyone has personalities and some mesh better than others. You don’t have to be friends with everyone but you can put good into the world and aim for your own happiness.
The social page on Facebook is a great way to see opportunities to connect. I’ve seen post race day dinners, subs needed for local pick up games, upcoming races people have registered for, cool events happening in the city, and even full NP teams forming for various activities. I just recently saw a post about a dragon boat racing team forming – how cool is that! If you have the time and capacity check out the page or post something if you are doing something fun. WHY? Well ultimately as we’ve said before it’s because #TogetherIsBetter.
Keep being awesome,
Rob
