Wednesday- Royal Glenora Stairs

I decided to show up after being asked a number of times from my childhood friend, Lauren. In my early years, I always played sports but as I got older, I didn’t play as much and I felt something was missing. I remember meeting Lauren for coffee one morning and she mentioned an aspect of life that I didn’t fully understand the importance of – Community. She introduced me to November Project and I could not be more grateful to have found this supportive, uplifting and encouraging community. I showed up to the Glenora Stairs workout at the end of May, 2015 and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it since then.
My “ah-ha” moment was definitely when I attended the 5th Summit in Boston. The bounce that morning was something else. I remember having goosebumps the entire workout. I learnt a lot about myself on that trip and also met a lot of amazing people from different cities who are still in my life to this day.
It is really hard to pick only one favourite workout but the Canada Day tsunami wave will always stand out for me. It started as a special holiday workout with a lot more people than usual but at the end of the workout, we all started at one end of the Legislature pool and ran to the other side. It was a collective of everyone going in the same direction and I don’t think anyone, at the time, realised what we were doing. A massive amount of water rushed out of the pool towards the stairs and soaked everyone’s towels, keys and personal belongings. That morning proved to me the ripple effect that this community has.
