Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow

Tis the season friends!

I’m so glad we had a light snowfall this morning. The stairs are always a bit brighter when the snow flies (aka no twisted ankles).

This next thought has not much to do with our NP crew. It’s more about something I’ve been struggling with in my head. If you have something to share with me after reading this, I’m happy to hear. Nothing is off limits for me (I don’t think)….

This Sunday coming I’m hosting a run with a focus on bringing together women of colour who want to run, who are runners (of any speed), who are intimidated by running (esp in the winter), etc. I think it’s also important to acknowledge that everyone is invited- friends and allies too. So, basically anyone who wants to run on Sunday morning is included.

I don’t usually use this platform to talk about other things that I get up to but I’m struggling with this a bit.

If you know me, you know that I care about everyone. I do my very best to learn, grow, know, and be challenged by everyone. Doing something that just focuses on a specific group of people comes with the very best intention on my part and I can totally see that some might feel that this is exclusive… and if another group of people did this, that might not be cool.

So, a bit of a personal struggle.

I have good intentions behind 1) wanting to provide a space to run with people who look anything like me (to reduce potential intimidation for those who have never run and to highlight that yeah, there ARE women of colour who are out there on the trails… more than the token one or two) and 2) not wanting to be exclusive… that goes against everything I believe in as a human being.

Anyhow, I’m not sure why I’m using our blog here to think through my internal struggle.

I feel fine enough about this bit of discomfort to host such a run and I know why I’m doing this.

And, if you wish to join, you’re more than welcome to join. See the above link.

Enjoy the sunshine and milder temps!
