I’m not much of a baker. One time, many years ago, I brought cookies to a Christmas potluck. They were delicious. One of my co-workers asked me if I made them, and I confidently replied “Yes!”. I mean, I had bought the dough, but I rolled it, cut it with the cookie cutter, and placed the festive shapes in the oven. I was the one who removed them from the oven and put some coloured sprinkles on them. And I was the one who transported said cookies into the office for the enjoyment of my colleagues.
This was a memorable exchange, because my co-worker then asked me about the ingredients, and I gave a vague response of ingredients that I was pretty sure belonged in cookies. My friend who knew I had bought the dough overheard this exchange and we both laughed really hard about it as soon as we were alone together. In fact, we still laugh about it any time I “bake” anything nearly 20 years later.
This anecdote came to mind today, after Erin led us in a Virtual Bake Off workout this morning. NP YOW has been joining in on Erin’s NP WWW workouts for the past month, as we are unable to meet in person due to gathering size limits. Becca and I wavered a bit about what our approach would be when returning to Zoom…but you know what? Sometimes it’s ok to let someone else make the dough for you.
Thank you Erin for preparing the most fun/sweaty/delicious dough for us all to enjoy. We will never tell a white lie about who prepares this workout “dough” for us, but we sure thank you for doing all the behind the scenes zoom magic so we can enjoy doing dough bugs, getting that buttercream butt kicker icing on it, and jumping over swiss rolls with you!
Sole-fully,
Becca & Rebecca
