NP SNAKES AND LADDERS (Toronto)

As we navigate this third wave and enter..errrr continue this never-ending lockdown we want to stay connected with our NP pals!

So we present to you… TORONTO’S NP SNAKES AND LADDERS !!

OBJECTIVE OF SNAKES AND LADDERS

The goal of the game/challenge is to reach the final square from the starting square, before any other team.1

How does it work?!

  1. Sign up for the challenge by filling out this form
  2. Teams will be randomly assigned by the coleaders; team sizes TBD
  3. A WhatsApp group will be created, with everyone who provided their phone number in the sign-up – this way you can notify the coleaders as well as encourage each other! If you don’t want to share your digits, don’t worry, you 100% can still join the challenge!
  4. To get a roll on the ‘Snakes and Ladders’ (or ‘Stephs and Lings’) board, participants must complete 40 min of movement

Movements that count:

  • Walk
  • Run
  • NP workout
  • Yoga
  • Bike
  • At home strength workout

If participants complete more than 40 mins in one go (i.e. 80 min run), they then get 2 rolls BUT if they run 90 min they only get 2 rolls

  1. Once a participant completes a movement you must contact NP Toronto/the coleaders (in the WhatsApps group, or Instagram DM, Facebook DM, text, etc.)
  2. Twice a day, the coleaders will roll for the participants (in the order that they were contacted in), moving the team along the board until a team wins!

The board will be visible to participants as a live, read-only doc (only the coleaders can edit the document); document will be linked in our bio on instagram, facebook page, and well, this blog!

GAME RULES1

  • When your team lands on a number that lies on the top of a Steph/Snake, then your team will land on the square at the bottom of the snake.
  • If your team falls on the Mei/ladder base, it will immediately climb to the top of the ladder.
  • If your team lands on the bottom of the Steph/Snake or top of a Mei/ladder, the team will remain in the same spot (same number) and will not get affected by any particular rule. The teams can never move down ladders.
  • The pieces of different players can overlap each other without knocking out anyone. There is no concept of being knocked out by opponent teams in Snakes and Ladders.
  • To win, the team needs to roll the exact number of die to land on the number 100. If the team  fails to do so, then the team needs to roll the die again in the next turn. For example, if a team is on the number 97 and the die roll shows the number 4, then the team cannot move its piece. The team will have to wait until their next turn to roll a number that will move them forward, but not over 100, for example, a 3 to win or 1 to be on the 98th number.
