A variation on bridge month (Ottawa)

Hi friends! It’s the start of a new year. A year in review with the moments to celebrate and fun memories and thoughts were shared last week. Please see here

As you may know, January is bridge month. Bridge month is normally happening right now, each and every week of the month of January we spend our mornings on the coldest part of the city, over a body of water. As we cannot spend #bridgemonth together this year we are asking that you share photos of you from the past or present as you have or will venture across bridges throughout this next month.

Today we got to share movements and partner workouts from people around the globe on Traverbal day. We loved getting to meet new faces! Maybe you even got to high five someone virtually post burpees, and soooooo many lunges (wouldn’t be Bridgemonth without lunges, would it?) We are grateful to move on unsurrendered Algonquin Territory this morning together. Can’t wait to see where people of Ottawa traverballed to!

How has the start of 2021 been for you? Are you a New Year’s resolution kind of person? Big changes planned? Small tweaks? Carry on with my good habits? Do you look to do more? Or is the change doing a little less of something?

Twenty-twenty lended itself to some unexpected reflection and learning. Learning about what we need, how we cope when uncertainty hits. For NP Ottawa, we have also reflected on the year and have been continuing to find ways to make the community better. The theme was focusing on reflecting on how we have been doing things, assumptions we have made, and ways to be more inclusive. We have reached out to the individuals who were keen to be more involved in NP in some capacity and will be collaborating to hold all of us accountable, continue conversations, and take action.

In this current lockdown, you have perhaps made changes to how you are doing your workouts, maybe it’s more time on zoom once again. We are grateful to spend time with you this Wednesday morning and be together. Having a scheduled time to meet, getting to see other people, connecting and moving alongside all of you is a helpful thing to look forward to. Sometimes it’s that little extra push we need to show up, or to up the intensity. Thank you for holding us accountable.

Here’s to bringing “soles” together
