Greetings from London! (a.k.a. we’re blogging again!)

THANK YOU JOE!

After over 3 years bringing his boundless energy, enthusiasm and animal-themed exercises to our Wednesday mornings, our beloved Joe Batten stepped down last month as co-leader of NP London to devote more time to his burgeoning fitness business. He now gets to join Jake O and Tom Mc on the sun-soaked deckchairs of the NP leaders’ retirement village, smoking cigars and complaining about ‘kids these days…!’

Joe has helped to forge NP London into the community that it is today, pushing each other through the endless burpees and celebrating our achievements, both in and out of the fitness sphere. The good news is that we still get to enjoy his company at the workouts, and now we get to push him extra hard on PB day after years of him doing it to us!

To Joe, a big THANK YOU for everything you’ve done for the London crew and a hearty good luck on your next chapter!

We’ve capitalised on the opportunity to shake up the leadership by bringing in not one, but TWO co-leaders to join Andrea! Here’s a little more info on the new additions…

Joon Wong – Many of you will know me as the lad behind the camera at November Project London since its inception as a pledge group nearly 5 years ago. Even before the pledge, I have been plugged into the NP global community in a under-the-radar kind of manner! I guess you could say that I’ve finally stepped into the spotlight! And I’m looking forward to the prospect of taking the community here in London forward as part of a trio of myself, George and Andrea!

George Holroyd – I showed up at my first NP London workout over 3 years ago, recommended by my school friend, long-time NP member and pocket bagel enthusiast Susie Beckham. Since then I’ve done countless dark winter wake-ups, smashed several PB days and made a ton of great friends. I’m so grateful and absolutely thrilled to be given the chance to co-lead this great community going forward, and I hope to ensure many others have the same great experience I’ve had! Favourite NP workout = 12 days of Christmas (coming soon…)

Our team of three is coming together in challenging, pandemic-dominated times – we’re 8 months into the virtual NP workouts, and realistically it may be a similar length of time until we can safely run full in-person workouts once more.  Despite these challenges, we’re looking forward to continuing to build our community into an inclusive, safe, and fun space for all. With this in mind we’d like to draw attention to a few resources in place to help us achieve this;

NP Community Agreements – developed at the annual co-leader meeting in 2019, this details the mission statement of NP and the expectations for members. A lot of these may seem ‘common sense’ but they’re definitely worth reiterating.

Anonymous Feedback Form  – newly created, we’ve added this resource as a way for you to let us know how we’re doing, with no obligation to provide your details. This is intended to allow members to pass on any comments, questions, concerns and ideas – and to hold us accountable as leaders.

We’d also be interested to hear from you as to what NP means to you. Why do you #justshowup every Wednesday morning? How (if at all) has that meaning changed during the global pandemic? Feel free to comment below or send us a message on our Instagram or Facebook channels!

Thanks for reading and as always, we’re glad you’re here!

Andrea, Joon and George

  1. Hi there, ex Chicago NP’er here and yet to get to an NP London zoom though I am going to change that. Thanks for the blog. NP means so much more to me than fitness and rarely a day goes by when I don’t think about it in some way. Quick question are there new buffs on the horizon? Thanks so much, Sarah

    1. Sarah! Buffs are being discussed, but there’s a minimum order that we’d need to hook up with another city to bundle the order in. Watch this space!
