Winter sucks. I hate it. It’s so cold. I just stay in my house for six months feeling sad. WRONG! We are Winnipeg. We are winter. We are weatherproof.
Ok, fine, yes, winter can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be. I am a suck about the cold, an absolute baby. Last winter after the 1st -30 workout Rick asked if anyone was still cold, and I was the only to put my hand up (and man, did I get a look from Derek that said ‘Put your hand down MEGAN!) Yes, I was cold, but damn I was happy to be there! I had decided to put on my positive attitude pants, and show up and embrace the winter. And you know what? You can too! There are so many ways you can get out (or stay in) and get moving!
The holidays are magical, and joyful and heartwarming, except when they’re not. Because for some people, some years they’re really hard. Maybe you’re remembering someone you lost, or healing a from heartbreak or just having a tough go of it. The holidays can bring us to the highest of highs or the lowest of lows. So use these 12 days as an excuse to reach out to someone who you know is struggling and ask them to go for a walk or a workout with you. I want this 12 Days of Fitmas to be a celebration of this incredible winter city that we live in. I want it to be a way for us to connect with all of the remarkable people that we share this community with. I want it to be a celebration of these strong, capable bodies that we live in. Your body gets you where you’re going and that’s a remarkable thing, so treat it right and get it moving.
Let’s get outside, let’s get moving, let’s get connected and let’s shine our lights.
