Fork Yeah

I have a confession: I’m heading to San Francisco for a 50k(!) and a lot of time with leaders I don’t get to see nearly enough. It’s called the “November Project West Coast Summit” for a reason, and the weekend would normally be the highlight of the winter, with people flowing in from nearly every tribe in North America and abroad. But it can’t compare to the surge of a saguaro sunrise on the steps of Sun Devil Stadium.

It has been six years since November Project kicked off on the concrete bleachers of Harvard Stadium, and I realized today a dream of mine since the very first time I set foot at the amphitheater. Jackie and I are both ASU alumni, and this has been in the making nearly as long as we’ve been a tribe. Every city strives for the Wednesday Morning Lights, and we reached it; soak in that glory for a moment.

Wisconsin Notes

  • There are only a few seats left for the Territorial Cup! Use code NPLOVESAZ at SunDevilTickets.com to secure yours. We will setup a Facebook event in the coming days for the tailgate and game.
  • Special thanks to: Bailey Creager and Sun Devil Athletics, who pulled some strings to get us into the stadium; DJ Soloman (Instagram @solomau5), for the music; Lisa, for getting us in touch with DJ Soloman; Erik for his wide-lens wizardry. I’m sorry if I missed you; I’m still delirious from this morning.
  • We’re at MOFO (36th St and Lincoln) on Monday, and back at the amphitheater on Wednesday

It doesn’t end here. We’re already looking to go bigger, including a push to make Sun Devil Stadium a regular occurrence (don’t worry, it won’t replace the amphitheater). But we can’t do this without our tribe; it takes Andrew putting together playlists week-in week-out and babysitting when we can’t make it, Liesl spreading the gospel across the globe, Annie planting an NP flag at 20,000 feet, Erik and Lisa making us the envy of our social media feeds, Ashley dropping the mic on Twitter, Meg keeping my head on straight, and Jesus naming his unborn child Trevor or Jackie*. Today was bigger – we got an honest-to-god DJ, for instance – and it’s easy to get up before the sun for something like that. But where we make Community happen are all the other mornings. We can and will continue to infiltrate every square inch of this globe, and You are the ones that will make it happen.

No matter if today was your first workout or your 101st, whether you’re on the couch side of a couch-to-5k or an Iron Man finisher, you are what makes November Project a unique and driving force throughout FORTY FOUR cities across eight countries and three continents. And we fully expect to see you next week.
