Know Your Tribe: Lisa Sugarman

Read below for the guest blog/Know Your Tribe feature on Lisa Sugarman.  For the DESTINATION DECK MONDAY location, read right here…It’s at the very eastern end of Black Falcon Ave. in the industrial part of the Seaport.

If you plan to pop by Harvard Stadium to do any sections this weekend // have not recorded your results from Wednesday do it NOW. HERE!!

Lisa Sugarman might be a newer face to the tribe, but she’s a regular one.  She’s there, working her ASS off, every single workout.  She’s someone who doesn’t take for granted the special thing that happens every Monday, Wednesday, Friday morning, year-round, regardless of the weather.  She holds on tight to the opportunity to rise&shine, to encourage others, and to find a better, faster, fitter, happier, badassier Lisa.  If you’ve seen her around, read on to learn a little more about her–and next time you see her, give that woman a hug or a high five and grab a hold of a tiny bit of her huge energy.  You won’t regret it.

Name: Lisa Sugarman

Alias/Nickname: Sugar

Date of First Workout: Adam Sogoloff’s bday (Dec 2, 2016)

Why’d you Just Show Up? Because Adam had been hucking me to go for years. You know, all the way from f-ing Marblehead.

Bostonian or Transplant? Was born in LA but my parents moved us back to Marblehead like a minute after I was born…so a Bostonian.

Tribes Visited: None yet. But have a long list.

Tribe Crush: The whole tribe. I fucking love everybody.

Favorite NP Day of the Week: Wednesday

Favorite Recurring Workout: Stadium

Least Favorite Recurring Workout: Haven’t done a workout I haven’t liked… yet.

Favorite NP Workout EVER: Woh-Man 2.0

I’ll never forget… My first hug from Elin. He was my very first hug at my very first workout which was Summit Ave. Adam tried to prep me for it, but there are really no words to describe an Elin hug. It still stands as my best NP hug. Ever. The guy knows how his shit.

I laughed hardest when… Lizzie Pollio and I tried to take the perfect Boomerang vid of me sliding on the iced-over track @ Harvard Stadium when it was too slippery to run the stairs. We peed our pants about it all the way home and for the rest of the day. Kept watching it over and over and texting each other and just laughing. (I may still bust it out from time to time just for shits & giggles.)

Anyone inspire you at NP that you haven’t told yet (now’s the time…don’t make it weird)? Emsauce. She’s a force. And a warrior. And a motivator. And an inspiration to so many. And just a rock-solid human being whose heart is in the absolute right place. Love that girl.

Why do you keep showing up? Because it’s everything that’s beautiful about life and about people. It’s love and passion and health & wellbeing and community and support and strength and family.

What do you do for a living? I write books that help families be happy and I’m also a syndicated opinion columnist.

When you were a child, what did you “want to do when you grow up?” I wanted to be a writer. Always.

What is your superpower?  I’m the mom of a 17 & 20 y/o. Top that shit.

What’s a question that we didn’t ask that we should’ve? What should the NP theme song be. (My answer would be “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge.)
