Let’s have this discussion about this free workout thing that happens Wednesday mornings at 6:29am. This thing where you #justshowup. Often when we workout, we have a good idea about what to expect from our hour workout. We know where we’re going to run, or which gym we’re going to and what the workout will look like. When you show up to NP, you’re often not really sure what you are going to be doing. You just know that the workout is going to be hard, if you’re doing it right. The unknown is intimidating. You don’t know if you’re going to have to run a lot or be on the ground a lot. Maybe complete jump squats or burpees or be asked do adult-recess type things, or these weird things called “hoisties”, or if you are going to hug a stranger (just kidding, that’s a guarantee, so you can cross that one off the unknown list).
November Project doesn’t have a monetary cost, it is and will always be $0. And though there is no fee to participate, your time is valuable and worth a lot. Maybe you left your kids this morning to work on being more independent with having them make their own lunches, maybe you had to wake up even earlier to walk your dog than usual, maybe you had to go to work sweaty, or prepare the night before to go straight from NP to your next activity of the day, maybe you came right from your night shift and delayed going to sleep after finishing a 12 hour shift. And because you made those sacrifices, NP probably has to be something that you want to make those sacrifices for.
What’s even more cool and just so EPIC is that you are not alone. Not only are you making those sacrifices but when you look around at all the beautiful people of your tribe, you know that maybe they have shown up just like you #committed, to make their morning, their day even week that much better. P.S. we all know that this workout will be on your mind for the rest of the day, why not pass on the news with your co worker at the water fountain or better yet the cyclist waiting at the light right beside you.
There will always be a workout, but it can only happen if people show up to do it. Thank you for stepping outside your comfort zone, overcoming the unknown and just showing up.
This morning was a PR day- and we had another opportunity to see if we improved. Maybe I didn’t add another round to my last attempt, but I may have increased my time finishing that last round after the ringing of the pot. I may have been breathing a bit easier, or feeling a bit stronger and I’ll know for next time I can push that 1% more. Or maybe I was able to keep up to that person I know is just a bit faster than me. A couple questions to consider, if you’re running with your friend, are you making each other better? I got up nice and early, did I come to have a leisure stroll up the hill? Or did I come to improve. Know that it is okay to push as hard as you can, whatever that pace is. Keep track of your rounds because though nobody else needs to know where you are at, you know if you’re putting in your all. PR day only works if you are giving it your all.
So here’s to bringing ‘soles’ together,
