PR day stands as the marking of a month ended, and beginning of a new one. June was a great month for NP YYZ. Highlighted of course by Summit 5, you conquered a tough tough course, the Harvard stairs, mingled with new friends from all over the world, Sam didn’t get a sunburn in his 50k expedition – such a success! Only again for a bunch of you to conquer more races including MEC, waterfront 10k (and lots of RunBeerTOs which really is the true race am I right ???!!).
The month of June we also gave you a challenge. Recruit everyone and anyone. Thank you for taking on the challenge. Thank you for every new face you brought. And thank you, all you new faces, for coming back. Thank you for every Instagram post. And for every race, event you repped with #grassroots gear. We will announce the challenge winner THIS WEDNESDAY !!!
To that, don’t stop now that the challenge is over. We live in a world of social media, if charcoal ice cream and an inflatable duck can take over your feed, so can a work out group that promotes positivity, fun and an active lifestyle. You never know how much just one post will inspire someone to just show up. Even more is the personal interactions. Talk about NP. To your friends, co workers, neighbours. I know one of our members slipped a note under her neighbours doors. Bargain your co worker into buying their morning coffee. Trying something new is intimidating especially sometimes when it comes to fitness. I know this from my own experience. When I first moved to Toronto I knew no one. I had someone push me to go to a run club, constantly asking me. I finally said yes and I have never looked back. If she never encouraged me to come out my life would have taken a much different turn. I may have never ran a marathon, met people who I have now traveled the world with, I certainly probably would not be writing this blog and yelling “Good morning” and making you do burpees every Wednesday morning. I am very fortunate to have found the fitness community early on in my life in Toronto and am now surrounded by an amazing group of supporters and friends including your lovely selves. I will forever be grateful to that friend for changing my life. When you believe in someone else, eventually they end up believing in themselves too, and that power/belief can do a lot of things. The fitness community in Toronto is incredible, and you are a very important part of it, and you can spread it. You never know who’s life you may change!
xx
