Adult Recess (YEG)

Sometimes the best-laid plans can’t always come to fruition. The intended workout this morning was hijacked by the wet ground from last night’s rainstorm and so at 5:30 as I was headed to the workout, Nadim and I were consulting about what we should do instead. This is the kind of stuff that goes on behind the scenes to ensure that you all have an amazing start to your day.

You’re a lucky bunch because Nadim hadn’t left for the park yet and has a large collection of cards at home. You’re also lucky because Andrew picked a great location, gifting us with a playground for the morning. Thus a deck workout with playgroud firedrills grew from our soggy conditions. So while I believe that you would have also been lucky if we could have done the workout I’d prepped for, things actually were even better the way it all worked out.

Life tends to be this way in general. Sometimes obstacles beyond our control get in the way and divert us from meticulously planned futures but when we make our way through those times, as difficult as they can be, we can look back at those challenges, barriers or detours and see how they helped us land in a better place…stronger, wiser, & happier than we would have been had our meticulous plan followed through. So trust in those times, while they will likey be more complicated that wet conditions on a Monday morning know that once you’re on the other side there is an adult recess waiting for you to participate in!.

And really, aren’t adult recesses is simply the best way to start a Monday?!

Plus, if we hadn’t changed up today’s workout, we would have never had the chance to share in young Logan’s pure joy this morning as he counted out his squats and pushups. That was one of the best gifts of the morning and is why, with quads trashed, I always choose to show up.
