This man was a little skeptical at first. He showed up and timidly gave hugs. That’s to be expected when it’s your first time and you just moved into a new city. But this past year we have watched Brian get faster, get more involved, get out of his comfort zone, double-verbal, and continue to be a huge asset to our community! This is Brian, this is his story:
Last October, I moved into my house in Baltimore. Four days later, I went to Rash field at 5:30 AM to check out this thing called the November Project. The first person I met was Nick. He gave me a bear hug and welcomed me as a first time participant. Little did I know that a year later I would be still going and working the rest of my life and schedule around that two hours every Wednesday. I eventually, that day, met Sydney and Pat and quickly realized that these people were special.
The last year has brought many changes to my life but the one constant is November Project. I am not the most social person and have a hard time meeting new people. This tribe has made it so much easier for me to not only feel comfortable, but to feel wanted and appreciated. A while ago I received the positivity award. It was a huge surprise and an honor to receive such an important award and symbol of what NP represents. I carried it with pride and displayed it on my mantle at home. I still talk about it and have enormous pride for receiving such an honor.

Let’s be honest though, the reason we attend November Project workouts is because of the people. I would not be on day 170 of a running streak if not for the man we call K. I would not have run a 25K race down a hill if not for Chris. I wouldn’t show up for double workouts on Wednesday and Friday workouts running up that damn hill if it weren’t for the wonderful people I have met in November Project Baltimore!!! The people make it special. The libation club gets me out of my house. The chance to volunteer for groups like Back On My Feet fills me with pride. We are blessed with the drive to be healthy and the will to overcome weather and life to be together a few hours a day. When I say that November Project changed my life for the better I’m not exaggerating.
So, I want to thank everyone I’ve met this past year for the hugs, the high fives, the encouragement, and the love. I look forward to another year of experiences with the BEST TRIBE in the NP network.
