You Shine So Damn Bright! (YWG)

The sun was out, the trees were budding, and the flowers in bloom. Yet the brightest thing about today was the 67 smiling faces who showed up this morning for what turned out to be an ass kicking. After returning from a quick trip out of town, there is nothing better to reinvigorate my love for this city and my love for this movement like a big group and people hugging, smiling and bouncing with me at 6:15 AM.

The workout was a non-stop assault on our legs and I seriously considered foregoing a shower to avoid a final set of stairs upon returning home. A recurring workout for our tribe is called the ‘Wood Bridge Gauntlet’. We utilize a bridge at the Forks and have everyone running laps around the edges, everytime Rick or I yells out “you all good?” we get the usual refrain of “fuck yeah!” and then yell out a workout for everyone to do for for the next 30 seconds (mountain climbers, pushups, lunges, squat jumps etc . . . be creative) then it’s right back to running until the next ‘Fuck Yeah’. We do this for about 10-15 minutes and when combined with other exercises it makes a great addition to the day.

What can we say about Connie!? She came to us many moons ago after following on Instagram for a few weeks. She hasn’t missed a workout since that first day unless she has been out of town, repping her #grassrootsgrear while racing all over the country (and world . . . Italy next week). She has already PR’d twice this year in her half marathon time, she never stops working on Wednesdays and she is always showing us her beautiful smile with an amazing attitude that brings so much to our tribe! Have fun in Italy Connie, it’s about time for another PR!

Remember to check out the #NP_Summit and book off your work days for late September, the summit will be an insane couple of days with the North Face Endurance Challenge and a group of people from NP tribes all over North America.

Lastly, May 24th is race #2 of the MEC series, Birds Hill park, be there to race or to cheer on the tribe. Rumour has it, we may drink a beer or three at the beach afterwards.

Keep on shining!

Tom and Rick
