Y’all Good?
Today we’re sharing some updates as it relates to November Project Global. If you have questions about anything in this blog, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your city’s Co-Leader or contact us here.
Effective May 1st, November Project will move from a Paid Employee operating model to a Volunteer Run operating model
After a thorough review, the Board of Directors has decided to transition November Project to a fully volunteer-led model. This means that the Board members and various committees composed of retired and existing Co-Leaders and members will be stepping up to run the show together, embodying our core value of “Lead Together!”
While some of the nitty gritty details of that are still being fleshed out, the most important thing we want our communities to know is that this will not have a noticeable impact on the day-to-day operations in your city. November Project has always been an organization with the best volunteers who step up to Co-Lead in our 53 cities. While we can’t attest to the quality of their jokes, we can reassure you that the creative, enthusiastic, engaging workouts you’ve come to expect from NP aren’t going anywhere.
What about In Person Events?
Ensuring that we continue to create opportunities for global connection remains a top priority for November Project. Partnering with a city each year to host #NPSummit will continue on, though some efforts may be at a more grassroots level. We are also hoping to plan these events out so the 2025 location can be announced at the 2024 Summit, 2026 location can be announced at the 2025 Summit, etc. Stay tuned to our socials Thursday, April 25 for this year’s #NPSummit announcement.
We are also encouraging cities to continue hosting regional meetups (Snowglobe, No Coast, SW Collision Course) and inviting the larger community to these. Events coming up include the Southwest Collision Course hosted by NP LA (May 11-12) and No Coast, hosted by NP Madison (July 19-21 – stay tuned to their socials for more information as it comes).
And we always encourage utilizing the #traverbal – visiting other November Project cities and crews across the globe when you’re traveling. Our full list of locations can be found here (and be sure to give their socials a check for the most up to date info!).
Co-Leader Resources
Your Co-Leaders recently were asked to participate in a survey to better understand their continued needs which was helpful in narrowing the focus of transition plans. Your Co-Leaders have access to an archive of resources including our Slack channel which will continue on and #NPedia which is a leadership tool that includes resources gathered throughout the tenure of NP for things from onboarding to leading workouts to running social media and beyond. The survey showed us that the majority of Co-Leaders feel confident in continuing in their role undisrupted by the global transition. Additionally, there will be ongoing communication to them from the board and processes for any HR conflicts that may arise – both of those are currently being worked on by the board for a seamless transition.
BUFFS + November Project Branded Merchandise
Buffs are another staple of creating global connection and are an initiative that has historically been led by a Co-Leader. Currently it will continue in this same way, with support from the board as/if needed. Expect more information about the 2024 buff in the coming months.
In early 2024 we also explored interest in November Project branded merchandise. Based on the success of The Weatherproof Collection, we will continue to explore different offerings for the future.
Social Media
Another important part of connecting communities across the globe are the social media platforms used by global. These platforms are a crucial piece of ensuring a pipeline of information is accessible by all 53 communities and will continue on. Management of these will be transitioning to a Marketing Committee and cities will be informed of processes on how to engage and how to ensure their city’s important events/blogs/etc are shared.
How to reach November Project Global
If at anytime you’d like to connect with NP global, feel free to reach out to the contact page. This email will be monitored by the board, turn around time for a response is still being determined but will be noted on the website when decided.
#NP_Continues
This transition has been well thought out and guided by feedback from our Co-Leader community to make sure it is as seamless as possible but we wanted to share this with our community at large for transparency. Again, we expect little to no impact on the weekly workouts or community events held by your individual cities.
If you want to ensure financial stability of November Project for years to come, you can make a one-time contribution or set up a monthly sustaining donation here. These funds will go towards necessary expenses to keep a non-profit organization running. If your employer has a donation or volunteer matching program, please reach out and we’ll be happy to assist.
If you have a unique skill you’d like to offer up to NP, have a lead on a sponsor, or want to support in another way, please reach out to the contact page.
In its 14 years of existence, November Project has lived on in many iterations. We are grateful for each and every member and Co-Leader who has walked alongside us as we have grown and evolved as needed and look forward to continuing on with you all now.
Always and forever, we’re glad you’re here.
