A Monday Morning Miracle.

We’ll keep this one short and sweet today. Maybe 180 characters or a shorter IG post for all the millenials out there… (revision: Not a chance this stays short)

This morning was simply a monday morning miracle.  Not something super inspirational, moving, or emotional but nonetheless a miracle that we were able to pull off a stunt like this. It’s an idea I’ve been tossing around for a while now but there’s always something that prevents us from doing it. Whether it’s the weather, traffic, safety or straight up the fact that this is (technically) private property….

It’s still something that we HAD to try.  If we’re going to ask for any gift from security guard to pull this off it had to be xmas morning… right?!

When I wrangled Billy Haff into helping plan this morning, we were both expecting the workout to last all of 5 minutes before getting kicked out.

Now there was one of two ways about going about this.  Sneakily and ask for forgiveness later OR just straight just ask for what you want.

We decided it was best to go for the later.  Really, REALLY hesitant that they would even entertain our idea, I ran up to the mini coop parked outside Billy Haff’s apartment and we rolled into the nearest dunks to buy the security guard an extra large coffee.  Here it goes.  We whipped the mini into the garage and gave each other a look and realized…. we don’t have a backup plan, do we?!

“YOOOO GOOD MORNING FRIIIEND!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!” was this poor sleeping security guards alarm clock on the corner of Dalton and Boyslton  at 6:11am.

I handed him a coffee and then went right in for it.  “SOOOO we got this group of runners that are out on the cold, wet sidewalk. I’d love to let them throw their gear in our mini and ‘warm-up’ “inside” out of the rain…”

“Yeah! It’ll be 24 dollars to park you car til 6pm today!”

Uh, perfect! That’s probably the closest thing I’ll ever get to a yes so I just ran with it hahahahaha.

Well it worked.  It happened.  We took over the garage for, a more or less dry deck, inside a gritty cool space all while we ran ABOVE this waking city.

Now this is NOT how I typically start my christmas morning, nor is it how I ever imagined starting christmas but it was simply the best.  It was a dream come true.  Although I don’t really plan on making early morning x-mas parking garage decks a tradition– one tradition I will always continue is surrounding yourself with amazing humans on this morning and every other morning.  Friends, family and people that will wake up at the ass crack of dawn, in a slushy rain to hurdle over parking garage ticket gates* and run the ramps to bounce on top of this city.

Thank you for showing up today and making this miracle come true!

Happy Holidays!

So much love,

Capoze

*(I just found out those ticket barriors/gates are called boom gates.  BOOM gates! I’ve only got one word for that irony… BOOM)
