MSP: Winter Gear Drive for Mile in My Shoes

This September, November Project participants from around the globe have been finding ways to lift up their communities, cities and countries to help make our world a better place, beyond just getting folks out of bed to climb hills and stairs during the dark hours of the morning.
November Project Minneapolis will be contributing to this global movement on a local level by collecting new and lightly used winter running gear to benefit the runners of Mile in My Shoes (MiMS).

What is Mile in My Shoes?

Mile in My Shoes brings together residents of Minneapolis with diverse backgrounds through the power of running. Based in homeless shelters and transitional housing facilities, MiMS serves as a catalyst for community-building, health and wellness promotion, leadership and self-efficacy, and spurring personal and political engagement within the non-homeless community. Through running with one another, MiMS’s resident members and run mentors not only find common ground, but begin to learn from and reach out to one another for support. As they transform themselves, they transform one another.
If you would like to learn more about or get involved with Mile in My Shoes, check out their Facebook book page and website for information and opportunities.

How can November Project members contribute to the Winter Gear Drive?

We will be collecting gear donations at weekly Wednesday and Friday morning workouts (6:27 a.m. – 7:15 a.m.) starting Friday, September 22 through Friday, October 6. Please find co-leaders Ben, Holly or Natalie at the workouts to handoff your contributions.

What winter running items would be most beneficial to MiMS?

• Headlamps and other lightweight lights
• New or very lightly used sports bras (all sizes)
• Winter running pants/tights (all sizes)
• Men’s/Women’s tops (XL, XXL)
• Men’s/Women’s jackets (XL, XXL)

Building Connections Through Movement

November Project Minneapolis is excited to support our local running community with this winter gear collection. We regularly pride ourselves on free fitness with a “Just Show Up” mentality, however a substantial portion of the Twin Cities face obstacles that limit their access to exercise and their ability to just show up. We are stoked for this opportunity to build on November Project and Mile in My Shoes’s shared vision of getting more people in our cities connected through movement.
Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks!
