Surprise Audit from the Capitol (DEN)

Remember this guy? Yea, he wasn’t here on accident. He was auditing the tribe, and here’s his report!

Super secretive operations brought me through Denver this past weekend, particularly on the final day of the week, in the morning, at around 5:30 and 6:15AM. Unofficially I happened to be passing through and wanted to surprise the bejesus out of the Denver coleaders. Unofficially (and probably never officially…still waiting for my paperwork to be approved by corporate) I planned on auditing the November Project 5280 Denver Mile High tribe (or whatever they call themselves).

Here is my official report:

Program: November Project Denver
Leadership: Matthew Sellen and Ryan “Splash” Wooderson
Date: 8/25/17
Description: Free Fitness movement workout for all ages, all levels; positive community, fast friends, and solid motivation

Notes:
I had sent recon mission a few weeks earlier in the form of the one and only Maria “Dazzo” Randazzo. Early reports suggested lots of burpees and star jumps coupled with heavy breathing because there’s no dang oxygen out there. Oxygen status confirmed. Bounce got me hyped. Short and sweet. DC might do it better. Wooderson seemed nervous with senior leadership (myself) present. Started grooving early (and even let me pick the tunes during the workout). Workout: simple and tough…maybe because I couldn’t breath after five flights of stairs? Push-ups. Classic. High fives. Hugs. Smiles.

Lessons learned:
1. The tribe is EVERYWHERE. Recent transplants to Denver from Boston and DC led to some griping by leadership that Denver is too pretty and cool and people should stop moving there b/c it’s getting too crowded. Translation: everyone should move to Denver because Sellen is cool and Wooderson is pretty.

2. It felt like home. One of the beautiful things about November Project is the ability to #traverbal, show up to a tribe that isn’t your own, and feel like you belong, people want you there, and that you’re going to have fun (and sweat). These feelings are ALSO true for anyone showing up for the very first time. Translation: Tell your friends, coworkers, family, and random people on the street, in the coffee shop, at the mall (do people still go to the mall?) about November Project. Don’t let them miss out. Live in Denver? Check out the tribe there. Live in London? There’s one there too. LA? Minneapolis? Toronto? Hong Kong? You get the picture.

3. Denver is legit. I don’t know if it was the mountain air, the lack of oxygen arriving at my brain by the second, the incredible views, or the people but I was high on the tribe in Denver (haha joke joke joke about you know what in CO). If it means anything, I’d go back to a second, third, fifth, 270th workout.

Fine print: My opinions in this report were not influenced or swayed by corporate or monetary input. I’d like to thank corporate November Project for not paying for any of my trip and ignoring my attempts to make this an official sponsored event complete with live band and special appearances by professional runners Dean  Karnazes and Paddy O’leary. I fully affirm that the results of my audit are true and not fabricated in any way. November Project Denver is GOOD. Just. Show. Up.

Audit complete.
Cheers Denver.
