WORDS GAMES

TRY NEW THINGS. TRY NEW THINGS (insert any number of cheesy quotes here about trying new things, failing sometimes but succeeded others). I realize as I am typing this that I am preaching to a choir of November Project people who are consistently “just showing up” to things all across their life but my first take away from this morning is keep trying new things. We took a chance this morning and tried a new workout based on bananagrams. We were pretty sure it would work well, keep people moving and ensure some silly interaction. In our super formal debrief we ruled that the workout was a success, people were dripping with sweat within minutes (thanks Baltimore summer humidity!) and burpeeing galore to form more words on the board.  We made someone’s morning because we encouraged keeping score on the scoreboard that hasn’t been used in decades (see photo below). He was super jazzed to be able to let out his inner middle school rebel by “writing on the wall”. Did we anticipate that? Nope definitely not but we are happy to facilitate letting out inner rebels by getting you up and interacting with all sorts of people before your colleagues, neighbors, children or boss even know that it’s Wednesday.

We also took a chance by taking the photo in the NEW spot and in a NEW way. Will it go down in #np_bal history as best ever photograph, unlikely. Will we do better in the future? I would like to think so. But without thinking outside the box and getting out of our comfort zones we never grow and learn about new things and ourselves as a result.  SOOOO, friends don’t forget to take all of the silliness and adventure and #lifelessons that we encourage at our morning adult recess to the rest of your day! At the very least, if you fail you will have this whole group of goofy people to support you every single Wednesday and Friday morning! Because the worst would be that, if we stop trying new things then it will be same ol’ and boring and really, who wants that?!

Andrea won the positivity award at 0530! She’s the one pushing herself every single workout. She’s the one smiling through it all! She’s the one supporting all of those people around them. She’s so long overdue for this…congrats, Andrea, you positively awesome member of the tribe!

HAPPPPPPPY WEDNESDAY. First people to tell me all the new things they tried and people they talked to wins my love, forever and ever. Don’t forget to keep in the loop about all the cool stuff happening: https://november-project.com/whats-what-in-baltimore-np_bal/
