Welcome to Virtual November Project Summit

Our community is in the process of healing and reconciliation. We’re also in the middle of a global pandemic. In “normal” times, November Project would host an in-person gathering where NP members can come together in one place to engage through running and fitness, personal connection, and celebration. As with many things in 2020, that experience is looking a little different this year. Still, we’re hoping that between the resources listed below, combined with a week-long Strava challenge, we would be able to provide some sense of engagement and belonging.

9k Run for 9 years of NP
As a part of our week-long challenge, we’re going to come together as a community to complete a 9k walk/run/roll. If you are in an area that doesn’t allow outdoor activity, please follow your local laws. It’s Halloween and the eve of November Project’s 9th Anniversary, so feel free to add a costumed spice to your run.

RESOURCES

Social Identities Activity

This exercise helps us explore our social identities and how we understand and value them. It guides us through thinking about how others see us and what impact those perceptions have on us as individuals. Join our facilitators D.A. Dirks and Soumya Palreddy as they lead four NP Co-leaders through the experience.

Knox Robinson

We connected with the Co-founder of Black Roses NYC, Knox Robinson to talk about our collective positioning in the running community, running while Black, and similarities and differences between November Project and Black Roses NYC.

Visibility

Most of our locations are approaching the dark months and the daylight savings is not too far away, so spoke to Mike Orton, the Product Line Manage from Brooks Apparel Team about R&D that goes into making a product that helps runners stay visible in the dark.

COMING SOON

In honor of the 2020 trip to Minnesota that never happened, we’re driving our attention to a local non-profit that is empowering BIPOC youth in North Minneapolis. We asked our friends at Knockaround to donate 50% of the proceeds from each pair of #JustShowUp sunglasses to Juxtaposition Arts to help get just a little closer to their fundraising goal of $2M. Roughly $12/pair, 1400 pairs total, this could be a pretty legit donation from all of us in the November Project community.

These pairs, designed by Co-Leader Erin Briskie, Minnesota themed throughout, are likely to sell out quickly, so make sure to act fast when you see them go live on November 2nd. Check back later for more details.
