As Pat, Nick, and I sat around the table last night sharing a few brewskis for St. Paddy’s Day, I was reminded of why we do this. I mean, I get to hang out with these two good-looking suckers. But the bigger reason why: why we wake up before there is a 5 on the clock (because in my mind alarms before 5am should be illegal) and why we power it downtown before the sun rises. We know part of it: getting a kickass workout in before your coworkers even get up, absolutely. Sweat IS my favorite accessory, you know.
But more than that, it’s about the people I get the privilege to surround myself with each morning – the ones that encourage and challenge, inspire and sometimes piss you off in the process. It is also about the realization that being really intentional with someone is brushing past that comfortable, safe top layer of our conversational world and asking meaningful questions, and truly, actively listening.
So if that means that I drag myself out of bed with a 4 on the clock, throw on too many layers for my own good, and still continue to pull frozen snot from my clothes (spring, where are you?) to be with the star jumps in my life, then I will; because doing so means we get to be a part of a community that proves positivity CAN radiate in the darkest of mornings and moments, and one that allows us the privilege to participate in something much bigger than ourselves.
These are my mornings: these star people and tribe with a hardcore workout thrown in. It’s hard in more than one way, but the reward is so sweet. I hope you join us, if you haven’t done so already. Positivity and hugs are addicting. We promise.
P.S. Mr. Jon OBVIOUSLY had a totally awesome workout for us this morning as our last and final March workout winner. And Emily B. avoided the positivity stick for too many weeks, but this week we caught her in stride. Check it out HERE.
P.P.S. Obviously had a ‘moment’ with this blog. Thanks for the love folks.Share via socials:
