Alright, so by now in your 18-85+ years of existance, you’ve all heard of seasons. We talk about them a lot — we basically live by them. I’m not talking just the 4 major seasons, (or 1 for our friends in California) but also beach season, baseball season, wedding season, hunting season, ski season, mating season, Back-to-school season, skinny dipping seasons, basil seasoning, Frogust season, the Four Seasons, Malcolm-without-a-shirt-season, and most of you have rolled you’re eyes at someone talking about the latest season of ‘The Bachelor’.
Well I’m here to give you a refresher on something we call #verbal season. It’s the time of year that lasts about 365 days, some years 366 days, where we give and receive verbals. Let’s be clear on a “Verbal.” According to the NP dictionary: They’re meaningful. A verbal is a commitment to attend a future workout. Most commonly done via word-of-mouth, verbals can also be “dropped” online, through text message, or on a hand written love note. Giving a verbal is like swearing on all graves covered in holy scriptures and future loved children and grandchildren that you’ll attend. Do the right thing, don’t break a verbal. Ever. Someone says, “Yeah, I think I’ll check out November Project this week.” You can force them by saying, “Is that a verbal?” Then show them the We Missed You section. This is “hunting” or “fishing” for a verbal.
#Verbal Season is in full bloom. How can you tell? Besides that fresh sense of wanting to be at everything now the weather is turning, you can also tell by the number of #verbals and the number of returning faces. A few people dropped some pretty inspiring #verbals that I want to share. 1) to inspire you to drop your own and 2) to hold these ballers accountable for what they set out to do.
For instance:
Last week we had Eric Klawiter drop the first ever #PRverbal.
That ‘s a verbal to PR on #prday. This is some pretty scary shit. Now if he had come up short, not only would he have gotten a self-prescribed post on the #wemissedyou page — we would have also dusted off that old blue balls award and given it a giant ceremonial reintroduction into the NP culture. With the pressure on, our boy made it happen. He cracked a huge PR at the stadium. Thoroughly impressed!
Then again this morning. We had one of our core-of-the-core members, Tessa Haynes, drop another self-imposed #verbal for #12for12. She verballed to show up to all 12 workout in the month of April. Even if we decide to bring the deck all the way up to New Hampshire, she’s going to try and make it.
And lastly my brother, C Payne and Britto. These two each dropped the ultimate lifelong verbal to their partner-in-crime. The post hype of this announcement puts all our childhood fairy tales to shame.
Congratulations homie, the tribe loves you both!

A lot of you dropped verbals for the #RunningOfTheFools. You’re not going to get a we missed you post or be the brunt of today’s blog jokes. Plus there would be way too many and we wouldn’t have time to write that many quality, knee-slappingly funny stories. You know who you are but also know that we missed you.
A verbal doesn’t need to be crazy, it’s anything you want to do and think you might be able to do. Don’t feel pressured to drop a verbal for a PR, or to run a 100-miler, or fly across the US for a race. Be adventurous, be daring, but also be smart.
A verbal can be as beautiful and simple as #justshowingup… because more often than not, that’s goldilock’s cup of porridge — just enough.
The tribe is stepping up the game. Will we see you on Wednesday?! Drop your verbal now.
Until next time.
xxoo,
Capoze

#Verbal every Wednesday I’m in town from now until #Summit
