Last week at the Summit 3.0 in Utah, hundreds of shirts were laid out on the ground ready to be tagged and officially made into #grassrootsgear. The owners of these shirts waited anxiously on the sidelines for their clothing to be covered in spray paint so they could sniff them for the rest of the day for their (un)natural high. It only took a matter of minutes, however, before the tribesmen just said ‘fuck it’ and started grabbing stencils and paint and were off to the races tagging neon in all directions. I showed up and realized none of the NP leaders were tagging, but rather just blankly staring at the chaotic scene in front of them. When I walked over to Brogan he simply stated, “The inmates are running the asylum.”
That was what I wanted the workout to feel like this morning. A simple template for a standard workout, mixed with a “freestyle” element that gave you all the power to make it as weird as possible. And weird you made it.
With teamwork like I have never seen before, people got to know each other intimately within minutes, and left feeling exposed yet oddly comforted. Here are just a few examples of how amazing things can be accomplished when motivated people put their heads together…and come up with full body contact exercises.
