As you already know, because of Woody’s spectacular tribute bounce this morning, the legend known as many things, including Prince, has died. This is what it sounds like when doves cry. I sure hope that #NP_MSP payed one hell of a tribute this morning!
In his honor, we learned how to sloooooow down this morning. How to take in our surroundings. How to take in each other. How to take in life.
Exhibit A: Super slow-mo pushups! So slow that it felt like you weren’t even moving… I’m pretty sure some of you were just planking. So slow that you could hear every fiber in your arms and chest scream in pain! Fun fact: doing super slow exercises like that will actually help increase blood flow to your extremities over time. Totally true!
Exhibit B: Lt. Dan’s super slow-mo fall and roll down the hill. I mean seriously… that fall took forever! Good on you for keeping your helmet on for a few laps, just in case. #SafetyThird
Exhibit C: We all kinda lingered after the workout before taking the group shot. OBVIOUSLY not because the SarMajeral was in a daze, and didn’t organize that shit. No, it was because we’re learning to sloooooooow down, and embrace the moment!
I think that even the best of us get caught up in the whirlwind of life, and forget to slow down. We wear ‘busy’ as a badge of honor. I say busy without knowledge of purpose is just mindless toil. Especially as the weather is changing, and our city is blossoming into it’s beautiful spring self, take some time to slow down. Enjoy what is around you, and reflect on how it makes you feel. Stop and ask the world for directions once in a while. Make sure that all of that busyness is getting you where you want to be going. It doesn’t matter how fast you’re going if you’re going in the wrong direction.
