Nothing changes. Until everything does (BAL)

The funny thing about change is that on a day-to-day basis you don’t really notice it. For example, our beloved Nick Rod went from this:

to this:

Wait, he looks the same. Ok maybe that wasn’t the best comparison. Let’s rewind. Here’s a better one. Let’s take today’s Positivity Award winner, Kevin Grunkemeyer (who, by the way, turns 40 today. That was a total coincidence). Kevin dropped 40 pounds over the last few months. 40! That’s like the weight of three Chipotle burritos. The dude looks incredible, and I can only imagine how he feels.

And the amazing thing is, he did it without publicizing it. I am not willing to give NP all of the credit, but probably most of it. 50-50? 70-30? We can work something out Kev.

You see, that’s the beautiful thing about change. On a daily basis, it’s hardly conceivable. But when you take a step back, you realize how much you grow (or shrink if you’re Kevin) over time. Yeah yeah, I know this is not a novel idea by any means, but it’s still cool to think about, right? For example, 5:30AM workout on Wednesdays started off super small – 5-10 people, max. Last week, I took a head count during the group photo and got 70 people. 70?! You like us that much, people?

My hope is that you can take a step back and think about the changes that NP has brought to your life. Whether that’s the people you hang out with, the food you eat, the amount of exercise you do, or your general outlook on life, my guess is that NP has made your life pretty cool. And don’t thank the three of us co-leaders for it; each of you has made this happen. And we love you every day for it.

Keep making life cool; for you, for me, for NP, and for Baltimore.
