Dark PR (NYC)

Wednesday morning. The alarm goes off at [enter your alarm time here]. Black skies, cold, muggy air, wet grounds. Sounds like a good day to sleep in – but it’s not. You don’t sleep in on the first Wednesday of the month. You PR! Everyone who’s anyone knows that. Now, not only is it the first Wednesday of December, but it is the last PR Day of 2014. Yep – mind blown. With the year coming to an end & the holidays approaching, babysitters Leanne (me), Chris, & Sara took Paulleak’s $10 for pizza & instead spent it on PR’s for all. #BetterThanSanta (or #BetterThanHannukahHarry for my other tribespeople).

While most of New York City was cozy in bed this morning, dreaming about a month full of sugar plum fairies, vacation days, holiday carols, & last minute gifts, our badass tribe set out to #raceeverything. And that’s just what they did. These BAMF’s raced around the dark course, carefully plotting their tracks to evade puddles, wet leaves & dog poop, conquering slippery steps, sliding turns, & poor GPS watch signals, all ending their year with a PR. But, Leanne?! How did everyone PR? That’s cray cray! Easy – there’s always room to justify a new PR when the babysitters are in town. We had course time PR’s, wet PR’s, moist PR’s, 5:30am PR’s, cold PR’s, dark PR’s, new haircut PR’s, yellow shirt PR’s… we also had some new recruits experience the magic for the first time, some athletes run the course nonstop for the first time, & some loyal, but injured, members executing their second amendment rights with a killer injury deck of cards workout. At November Project NYC, we set high goals for ourselves, & whether or not we achieve them exactly as planned, we still win. Because we woke up, worked hard, raced everything & have become better as a result. BOOM! PR EVERYTHING!

This week’s Positivity Award was passed on from Megatron to Amrita (a.k.a GreenEggs AmRam, a.a.k.a. Sammie), a high school cross country track star who shows up at 5:30am, ready to rock. When she’s not at #NP_NYC, she is presumably out in the world kicking some ass… & getting ready for college. We know she’ll choose her school based not on major, sports teams or Greek life, but on its proximity to a local NP tribe. How do we know this? She wrote her college essay about November Project! #thetribeisstrong

In other news: Get ready for #NP_Carols, a 5k-5M festive race through Manhattan, abound with ugly sweaters, off-tune carols, & burpees. #JustShowUp at Rock Center on Sunday, December 14th @ 3:25pm. Dress in your holiday worst.
