I’m not sure who broke in who this morning…the tribe breaking in Walterdale or Walterdale breaking in the tribe!
First let me start by apologizing to all of those high 5’s that I attempted and missed, or missed/ignored completely. I will admit that as I neared the top quarter of the hill, head down & arms pumping, I needed all of the momentum possible to push me to the top. Breaking the arm drive form and taking a high five could have possibly stopped me dead in my tracks. Just so you know, the virtual high 5 that I gave you in my head did help propel me to the apex and around the light post, so your positive, energetic, motivating vibes were not lost on me! I saved some high 10s for the high 5 gauntlet – hope that made up for it 😉
Walterdale is a beast and yet somewhat unassuming. I always think that once I round the corner I’m about half way…but nope…its not half way…there’s still a lot of hill left. I am comforted to know that I am not the only person who feels this way. One of your babysitters for next Friday talked about how he needs to get to know Walterdale a little better too: where the breaking points are, where you can kick it, where you need to push a little harder and dig a little deeper. This is a great new challenge and a benefit of changing up our hill! While you worked your butts off getting up to the top, I hope that as you all went down the hill this morning you took the time to look at up as the sun woke with us. The vivid pink sky just peaking through was such a great reward for rising up so early and sweating with an amazing bunch of human beings.
