Another Friday in the books and 2019 is off to a great start. This morning’s hill was quite a killer and while the photographic evidence was lacking (a lens upgrade and some lessons might be in my future), the post burnout sweat marks told a good story.
It’s a new year and with a new year comes new goals. Last year Jesse and I talked about fitness goals, keeping accountabilibuddies and we encouraged you to do the same. At the end of last year, we encouraged people to reflect on 2018 and how the year went, remembering that it’s about progress, not perfection.
So 2019, what’s on tap for this year? We’ve got some goals, we’ve got some fun, and we’ve got a whole lot of fitness going down. More on all of that later since this is more than I’ve blogged in far too long.
Here’s some of what’s COMING TO NPLAX SOON:
Run Safe Awareness Week (Week of January 21st): This is something that John Honerkamp in NYC is starting (if you don’t know who this dude is, he started the NP NYC group) and as we learn more or have more tips, I’ll share them here. Basically, it’s true that we all work out together early in the morning and that’s awesome because strength in numbers! But there are times when you are out there (maybe running alone) and it’s important to be aware of your surroundings. I’m talking more than “don’t run alone at night with music blasting in your headphones”. I’m talking be aware of cars driving, LA drivers, random dogs or deers (yes this could happen in Griffith). It’s a reminder to just be safe out there because while we joke about #safetythird sometimes safety is important. Ok Mom nag/rant over.
Firecracker 5K/10K: In the mood to run one of the best races in town? The annual Firecracker race is just around the corner on SUNDAY February 17th (this is President’s Weekend FYI) and we’re going to have a stacked crew out there! Use code NPLAX10 to get 10% off your race entry and sign up HERE.
LA Marathon Water Station: Not running? GREAT! Our fearless Water Station Captains Molly Pearlman and Rachel Goldstein will be at the lead and we’ll be sharing information real soon about how you can get involved.
NP X Saturday Stairs Pop-Up at the Hollywood Bowl (2/9/19): On Saturday February 9th, we’re grouping up with Saturday Stairs to help local Girl Scout Troops earn their fitness patch and teach kids the fun of working out together! Grab your friends, family, neighbors, and anyone else you can think of. It’s going to be a blast!
Fun Fact: Kangaroos hop to move around quickly, and walk on four legs while moving slowly. They can jump backwards, but only a very small distance. They can hop or jump as far as about three times their own height. They can also swim if necessary. G’day!Share via socials:
