I don’t know about you guys, but I have a hard time exercising when I don’t know how far I’m going and/or how long I’m going. I get crazyyyy in my head (more-so than usual). I can be planking for thirty seconds and if I don’t know how much longer I have to be there, that voice in my head chimes in and tells me I can’t hold it any longer. Before becoming co-leader I would strain my ears desperately for the sound of “less than 10!” or even better: “less than 5!” or better yet: “last minute!” Sebastians without a minute-by-minute countdown? Forget it.

Sometimes this anal-ness is useful. It helps me pace myself and stay goal-oriented. But it also takes me out of the moment and disregards other factors besides time; such as how I’m feeling that day, the weather, and the energy of the people around me. It’s a really good thing to be able to let go of control, not know how long you’re going to be pushing yourself, and just push yourself anyway without complaint.

It’s tough not knowing how many laps you’re going to be sprinting around the park. It’s tough not knowing how long you’ll be holding that plank until it’s your turn to sprint. It’s tough suspecting there’s a burnout but not knowing for sure while you’re pounding out 50 partner push-ups and your arms are aching. And still every single person pushed hard through every lap, held solid planks, and completed every push-up and curtsy-kiss with extreme mental and physical strength. You all knew that you had the ability to push yourself to the limit on every exercise, and still be able to tackle whatever came next. I give that a HUGE fuck yeah!!!!!!! Proud mama over here!!!!

You guys make my life. You really do. I am so happy that I get to be ridiculous with you all on a biweekly basis (sometimes more #notnotacult). I’m really excited for the water station at LAM because I know we’re going to blow the socks off every runner/spectator/volunteer in LA. NEWBIE JAKE who is my new obsession asked me about signing up and that warmed my heart because he’s a newbie and he wants to spend the whole day with us having a hydration party. (Hi Jake I told you to read the blog to get the water station info so this a test. Your push-ups are beautiful.)
