Yesterday, at a local race hosted by a local mountain equipment store, Jen was trying to show me how the weather forecast for the week. For those that don’t know, I usually have an idea whether it’s going to be cold or not, but I don’t look at the actual forecast until the morning of the workout. I worry less about the weather if I don’t know what it is going to be like before I go to bed. I tried to avoid it, but she shoved the phone in my face and held it there until I opened my eyes a look at what it said. Nevertheless, I had a tough time sleeping last night and was absolutely dreading this morning. Yes, I am ready for winter to be over. I’m ready to stop wearing all these layers. I was dreading this morning. I wouldn’t have been surprised if only 5 people showed up this morning.

I rolled out of bed this morning with less than 5 hours of sleep, courtesy of Jen’s phone and slowly got ready for the workout. I even arrived later than usual, with only 4 minutes before the bounce. Jen and I quickly merged our ideas for the workout, which I was not totally sold on. But we went with it.

For those that were there, I don’t even need to tell you how this morning went. To me, this goes down as one of those mornings that we’ll be talking about years down the road. It ranks up there with the tidal wave, the goats, the mariachi band, and the slip n slides. The even better thing, was that this time, we didn’t need to set anything up. It was the tribe that took over and took the workout to a whole new level. It felt like the first snowfall. It truly was adult recess. It was one of those mornings where when we called time, there was a collective groan from everyone that the fun was over. If it was your first workout or you were watching from the houses across the field, you’d probably think that it was the first time we had all seen snow.

We don’t really have photos from this morning, and the stories on Instagram don’t do justice to how amazing this morning was. If you missed us this morning, I guess you’ll never really know.

To everyone that showed up this morning, thank you for your being hilarious and making this workout as awesome as it was. You are amazing. Thank you for continuing to show up.
